Office Workstation Manufacturer in Bengaluru — Questions to Ask Before Ordering
Fifteen questions that separate a workstation manufacturer from a reseller in Bengaluru, and the answers worth expecting on specification, lead time, service and spares.
Workstation quotations are hard to compare because they describe the same thing at different levels of detail. The fix is not to study the quotes — it is to ask the same set of questions of everyone quoting.
Here are the questions, and what a good answer looks like.
About the supplier
1. Do you manufacture, or do you source? A large share of firms in this trade are traders. Nothing wrong with that, but it changes what you can expect on customisation, lead time and long-term spares.
2. Can I visit the workshop? A manufacturer will say yes. This is the single most informative question on the list.
3. Do you install with your own team, or subcontract? Levelling and shutter alignment are where installation quality lives, and they depend on who is holding the spanner.
About the specification
4. What board type and thickness is the worksurface? Expect: board type named, 25 mm.
5. What edge banding? Expect: 2 mm PVC, machine-pressed, all four edges. If the answer is vague, it is 0.8 mm.
6. What is the frame section size and wall thickness? This is where cost is quietly saved and where desks develop a wobble.
7. Are levellers fitted on every post? Expect: yes. Commercial floors are not flat.
8. What is the screen height above finished floor, and what is the infill? Note “above finished floor”, not above the worksurface — this is a routine source of confusion.
9. What is the raceway capacity, and is the cover removable without tools? A screwed-down cover never gets opened, and the next cable goes over the top.
10. Which hinge, slide and lock models are used? Expect brand names and, for slides, a load rating.
About the project
11. Will you survey the site before production, and will you record the access route? Lift and stair dimensions decide whether units arrive assembled or in parts. This is a design input, not a delivery detail.
12. What is the realistic lead time, and what would extend it? Expect a range and honest named risks — non-stocked laminates, late approvals, site not ready.
13. Is installation, levelling, alignment and a dated snag list in scope?
About afterwards
14. Will you record the laminate code, board specification and hardware models against my project? This is what makes a matching extension or repair possible in three years. Almost nobody asks; almost everyone eventually needs it.
15. What does the warranty cover, and is structure covered differently from hardware? They usually are. Get it in writing.
Our answers
We manufacture at our own workshop at #336/10, Hosur Road, near ICICI Bank, Bommanahalli, Bengaluru 560068. Visits are welcome. We survey before production, install with our own team, and keep the drawing set, laminate codes and hardware specification on file for every project — which is what lets an office that grows from 30 seats to 50 get furniture that matches rather than approximates.
