What we make

College furniture has a harder job than office furniture. It is used by a rotating population of students who did not buy it, do not own it, and will not be gentle with it. It has to survive that for years, in quantity, on an institutional budget, and it has to be replaceable in matching batches when a wing expands.

We manufacture the full institutional range from our Bommanahalli workshop: classroom and lecture-hall seating, faculty and administrative workstations, boardroom and conference furniture, computer lab tables, library furniture, cafeteria seating, and lockers and storage. Because it is all built in one place, a department ordering four items gets four items that look like they belong together.

Ranges

Classroom and lecture-hall furniture

Desk-and-bench units and tiered lecture-hall seating. Specified by row length and pitch — how much depth each row needs so students can get in and out without the whole row standing up. Writing surfaces in laminate over a solid substrate, on welded metal frames.

Faculty and office workstations

Staff rooms and HOD cabins need desks with real storage: drawer units for papers, a lockable pedestal, and cable management for a desktop machine. We build these as modular runs so a shared staff room reads as one system rather than a dozen personal purchases.

Boardroom and conference furniture

Conference tables for senate rooms and departmental meeting rooms, in rectangular, oval and boat shapes, with cable and power cut-outs where AV is involved.

Computer lab tables and chairs

The most demanding item in most colleges. CPU platforms, monitor clearance, keyboard height, and cable routing that keeps power and data off the floor. Rows can be built in straight banks or back-to-back islands depending on how invigilation works in that room.

Library furniture

Reading tables, individual carrels, stacks and issue counters. Carrels are worth considering where the library doubles as a study hall — they buy quiet without building walls.

Cafeteria furniture

High-turnover seating in wipe-clean surfaces. Round tables seat more people in less area; rectangular tables queue better along a wall.

Lockers and storage

Student lockers, departmental file storage, and lab storage. Specified by compartment count and locking type.

Specifying for a campus

Count the room, not the order. Furniture that fits a plan on paper often does not fit the actual room once columns, doors and switchboards are accounted for. We measure on site before cutting.
Plan for the next batch. Colleges expand in phases. Tell us if a second phase is likely and we will keep the specification recorded so batch two matches batch one.
Circulation and invigilation. Aisle width is an exam-hall requirement as much as a comfort one. Decide row pitch with your exam layout in hand.
Edges and fixings. Anywhere students pass at speed, edges should be radiused and edge-banded. Exposed fixings on student furniture become loose fixings.
Cleaning. Whatever the housekeeping team can realistically maintain should drive the finish choice, not the other way round.

Materials and finishes

Frames are fabricated in mild steel section, welded and powder coated. Powder coating is the right call for institutional use — it takes knocks better than paint and can be matched to a departmental or campus colour. Work surfaces are laminate over an engineered wood core, with edge banding on all exposed edges. Storage units use metal or laminate carcasses depending on where they sit and what they hold.

For lab and technical rooms, surfaces are selected for the specific conditions of that room. Tell us what will actually be done on the table and we will specify accordingly rather than defaulting to a general-purpose top.

Who this suits

Engineering and technical colleges, arts and science colleges, polytechnics, and research institutes fitting out new blocks or replacing worn batches. We have supplied workstations to IIIT College and laboratory tables to IIT, in both cases as repeat orders after an initial delivery.

Customisation

Institutional orders are almost never standard. Room dimensions, student numbers per row, storage requirements and colour schemes all vary. We build to the drawing rather than to a catalogue, and we will produce a sample unit for approval before a bulk run — worth doing on any order above a few dozen units, because it is far cheaper to change one desk than a hundred.
