Hostel Cots in Bangalore — Bulk Metal and PLPB Board Furniture

Hostel furniture is a volume problem with a durability requirement. A hostel room is furnished once and then used by a different occupant every year, none of whom own it, for a decade or more. That is a harder brief than almost any office.

We manufacture hostel cots, wardrobes and study tables in bulk to customer requirement — in metal and in PLPB (pre-laminated particle board) — at our own workshop in Bengaluru.

Metal cots

The default for institutional hostels, and for good reason.

Where they win: they take abuse indefinitely, they cannot be damaged by moisture the way board can, they resist pest infestation, and a bent member can be straightened or welded rather than replaced. For high-turnover accommodation, metal is usually the correct engineering answer.

What to specify:

• Frame section size and wall thickness — this is the whole strength of the cot
• Mesh, strip or slat deck, and the spacing between members
• Powder-coated finish, which resists chipping far better than enamel paint
• Whether the cot is single, bunk or with an under-bed storage provision

Bunk considerations: ladder position and fixing, a guard rail on the upper bunk, and the vertical clearance between decks — enough for the lower occupant to sit up.

PLPB board cots

Pre-laminated particle board construction, giving a warmer, more residential appearance.

Where they win: appearance, quieter in use than metal, and they integrate storage naturally into the bed base — a real advantage in a room where each occupant has limited space.

What to specify:

• Board thickness for the platform and side rails
• Whether the deck is board or slatted
• Storage: drawers in the base, or a lift-up platform
• 2 mm PVC edge banding on every exposed edge — non-negotiable in a hostel, since edges take constant knocks
• Lockable storage, which matters in shared rooms

PLPB suits managed hostels, corporate accommodation and PG facilities more than heavy institutional use.

Wardrobe with integrated study table

The unit that makes a hostel room work. Combining wardrobe, study surface and shelving into one module means each occupant gets a defined personal zone in a room that may hold three or four people.

Typical configuration per occupant:

Locks are the detail that matters most and gets cut first. Every occupant needs at least one lockable compartment.

Ordering in bulk

Bulk hostel orders are made to customer requirement rather than to a stock size — room dimensions, occupant count per room, cot type, and the wardrobe and study configuration all set the specification. Because we manufacture rather than trade, the same drawing can be produced consistently across an entire block, and additional units can be made later to match.
